MIM Process

1,OVERVIEW

Metal injection molding (MIM) is a typical product of cross-disciplinary, integrating two different processing technologies (plastic injection mold and powder metallurgy). It makes designer get rid of tradition and gets low-cost and heterogenic stainless steel, nickel, iron, copper, titanium and other metal parts via plastic molding. Through this method, designer can have freedom of design.

2,PRE-SALES ASSESSMENT

Galaxy3DM pre-sales team will work closely with you to assess the feasibility for MIM production in terms of cost, material, or manufacturing. Gian will also advise how to change design for achieving the best effect through MIM

3, RAW MATERIALS

Under the condition of precisely controlled preparation, special metal powder (micron) mixed with high quality polymers in order to get MIM special feeding. Compared to traditional powder metallurgy, particle size of metal powder(micron)and low impurity content assure that MIM sintering density reaches a theoretical density of 98%. Besides, specially formulated multi-polymers are able to provide better liquidity during injecting and can also ensure efficient debinding ability.

4,INJECTION

MIM feedstock is heated and filled evenly into mold cavity by injection molding machines, then green components is generated after cooling down. Molds in accordance with the MIM characteristics and reasonable process pairing are the keys to this process.

5,DEBINDING

Major binders in injection components can be gradually and efficiently removed via professional debinding furnace. Remaining binder can maintain the shape of products in order to entering into sintering.

6,SINTERING

In a vacuum furnace or an atmosphere furnace, frame binder can be removed. Metal powder will be densified and transformed into full metal body under the temperature close to the melting point. After cooling, sintering parts are near finished shape.

 

Galaxy3DM has advanced manufacturing technology. There are two factory sites in mainland China, which are Shenzhen site(construction area of 15,000 square meters)and Dongguan site(construction area of 20,000 square meters),both sites have the most advanced continual sintering furnaces equipment in world and post processing equipment.

1.Feedstock manufacturing

Galaxy3DM has the competence to use dedicated device for MIM raw materials mix production. We can accurately mix batch powder and binder under controlled environment, and then maintain high quality and flexibility.

 

2.Molding

We use the most advanced and sophisticated injection equipment in the market. We believe that we can realize higher performance and production quality by using machine debugged by technicians. Gian updates injection equipments and achieve automation production.

 

3.Debinding and sintering

Before sintering, Galaxy3DM utilize a special debinding technology to remove binder, which is an environment friendly process and easy to monitor. Sintering process keeps running under the vacuum or high temperature. We can precisely control various alloy by using different gas. Our continual sintering furnaces can meet customers’ demand in the aspect of high productivity and efficiency.

 

4.Measurement and laboratory

Galaxy3DM has a modern and well-equipped metering department. Our acquired superior devices, like visual inspection system,3D coordinate measuring machine, scanner and special instruments for arc, surface roughness, laser particle and metallographic, etc. Laboratory is responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all measuring instruments and frequently used measuring tools.

Vacuum coating and surface treatment

Galaxy3DM has 15000square meters workshop for PVD and other post processing. Our operators receive strict training form engineers and technologist and successfully passed their examination.
