MIM Process

Metal injection molding (MIM) is a typical cross-disciplinary product that combines two completely different processing technologies (plastic injection molding and powder metallurgy).

 

Metal Injection Molding(MIM) is an advanced metal work process which combines the advantages of thermoplastic injection molding and powder metallurgy.
Many high-performing products are made by MIM technology, products such as electronics, consumer items, auto parts, medical equipments, military, aerospace, mobie phones, electronic radiators, sealed packages, junction boxes, industrial tools, fiber optics connectors, fluid spray systems, sports equipments, disks, automobile fuel supply and ignition systems, dental instrumentations and strengthen tools, pharmaceutical equipments, hand-held power tools, pumps, surgical devices, defense systems etc.

Density and strength of MIM products

The density of a typical MIM is theoretically higher than 98%. Specific density characteristics depend on the choice of material, but it is very close to precision materials.

MIM Advantage:

MIM technology can build more complex parts compared to other metal forming methods. Basically, all structures are achievable by injection molds can be applied to MIM.

The surface roughness of MIM sintering green parts (Ra) can achieve 1μm. It can be obtained dazzling appearance by various surface treatments.

Generally, MIM can achieve accuracy tolerances ±0.5%. It can obtain an even higher dimensional accuracy once MIM works with other processing methods.
