About Rapid tooling
Low-Volume Production with Aluminum tooling
At Galaxy3DM, with orders of more than 100 parts, we will consider Quick Turn Tooling, Injection Molding for plastics and Die Casting for metals. Materials could be plastics and metals. We can make rapid tooling for various plastics with different finishing, like sand blasting, texture, painting, plating and so on, depending on our customers’ requirements. We can make tool life to be 5k to 100ks or more. So if you have any projects that you would only like 100pcs or 100ks pcs parts, you are welcomed to contact us for a quote.
What is rapid tooling?
Rapid Tooling is a way to simplify the mould structure for low cost & short lead-time. It’s commonly used in the field of rapid injection moulding, based on the low-volume requirement. Galaxy3DM manufactures its own rapid tooling in 7075 aluminum(moulds can be textured) and pre-hardened P20 tool steel, to make the cavity, core and ejector plates. They are then fitted into a Master Unit Die(MUD based system) with standard tooling components, in order to produce injection moulded parts.
Rapid Tooling vs Conventional Tooling?
Aluminium tooling is very suitable or low-volume production prototype runs, providing a cost effective solution with shorter lead-time than traditional production tooling. For rapid tooling, we can typically be 30-50% cheaper than full production tooling, with a 40-60% reduction in lead-time compared to traditional moulds.Typically, we are able to go from initial DFM design through to tooling manufacture, mould flow analysis, and initial samples in approximately 5 to 28 calendar days(depending on product complexity and tool functionality). What metal material are used for rapid tooling?
We manufacture our tools from aluminium, P20, NAK80 and S136 tool steel, which can be run in a standard injection moulding machine to produce production quality parts in low-volumes. These moulds are generally serviceable for 5000 to 100,000+ units(depending on tool steel type, prototype material and tool functionality).
If a part requires a normal surface finish, we use aluminium or P20 steel in the injection moulding process.
If a gloss or clear finish is required, the mould material would consist of NAK80 or S136, which are types of polishing steel.

RAW Material Control
Purchasing material from suppliers without certificate is very risky. So we always need to get a report from our material supplier ,and check this material composition.
QC will check all size if match our drawings , meantime ,also will check all surface if ok .If all ok ,this material will agree go into our warehouse.
Imaging if we used wrong material and have a size is wrong , will loss very big cost to remake parts ,and also lead time can’t be guaranteed,thanks for all tester, All problems Sorted.
On-Site Inspection
QC people will checking on-site all parts every two hours, this is very important work during produce, because if find is wrong after products finished , thats very danger, So we have to make sure that we don’t make any mistakes at every step, even we find wrong ,we also can rescue .
Go-no go fixed gauges | Ring gauge
Thread test also is very imortant point, because surface finishing will affect this thread ,for example, Anodized, Plating, Heat treatment… We need to control this thread tight/loose during machining, Ensure that all thread is ok after go-no go fixed gauges | ring gauge checked.
Projector Measuring Instrument
It can measure point, line, circle, arc and oval, rectangular with the multi-point positioning function, combination of measurements, center structure and the intersection of structure, the midpoint of construction, line structure, a round structure.It has various functions of data processing, display, input and output, Measurement data output Word, Excel and Auto CAD directly to conduct statistical analysis, particularly, and the work piece straightening function is very useful.
Coordinate Measuring Machine

FAQ
How long about quotation?
In most cases, we respond within 24 hours of receiving an RFQ. If the quote is delayed, we will notify you as soon as possible.
What type of design files does Galaxy3DM accept for quoting?
In order to provide an accurate and timely quote, we only accept 3D CAD files in STP, STEP , IGS , IGES format. 2D drawings with reference dimensions must be in PDF format. We must receive complete manufacturing information as part of this technical documentation.
How do I know my design will be kept confidential?

What tolerances can Galaxy3DM Hardware achieve?
We will process according to the tolerances indicated on the customer’s PDF drawing. If there is no PDF or DWG drawing, you can also use the industry standard ISO 2678 tolerance.
What if I am not completely satisfied with the parts I receive?
We guarantee our materials and workmanship based on the terms of the initial order and the information provided by you. Any disputes based on a subjective determination shall be brought to the attention of management who will act in good faith to provide you with complete satisfaction. Our continuing business relies on earning your confidence in our ability to meet and exceed any reasonable expectations.
Can my company get credit with Galaxy3DM Hardware?
Rapid prototyping customers must pay in advance for the first three orders, after which we will consider giving 30 days credit. Except in very special cases, all tooling orders require a 50% deposit in advance. Typically the balance must be paid after T1 approval of samples.
How can I pay Galaxy3DM?
Galaxy3DM accepts payment in two ways:
